That cinches it -- my friends from college are just way too cool for me. S is a filmmaker in NYC and gets to cut loose to the Bacon Brothers. G is an amazing editor, with cool handwriting (I hadn't forgotten) who travels here and yon, speaks French fluently and travels to France frequently (probably not as much as she would like). And, the list goes on.
Me, I live in Oklahoma, in a big rambling ranch house with one cat and a husband.
Dang it. I think I'm having a mid-life crisis. Where's my convertible?

Hey, you have a lot going for you! You have a husband who loves you, great kids, grandchildren and friends who think you're pretty darn cool. And there are days when I pine for a big rambling ranch house, believe it or not.
I support the convertible idea, though. You guys would have a ton of fun in one of those things. :)
G -- I love my life. Just don't think it would rank up there in "cool" per se. Wonderful, terrific, blessed - yes. Cool -- my kids and friend know better :)
But thanks!
I'm with ya in uncool, baby. I'm a reluctant soccer mom with three kids. Half the time, I have some kid schmutz on my shirt: peanut butter, chocolate, snot. I drive a mommy-fied monster truck . . . er, Honda CRV.
Trust me, our cool days will come. : )
I had one of those days last week, hence my "What if" post.
Fortunately, no one I went to school with and really none of my friends are "cool", like filmmaker cool. We're all just swimming in a sea of mediocrity. Together.
:)
i second gina. you have done plenty and have had much accomplished, including holding your own and then some with a bunch of 20somethings back at MU.
just before you think living in NYC is all fun and games, let me point out that at least you own a home, whereas i, in my "cool" brooklyn life, can scarcely afford to rent.
as for the convertible, hell yeah! i rented one last summer and had a ball.
think NYC is so great? can't smoke in a bar here!
Thanks all for your comments. I still think you all are way cool.
Yeah, you can't smoke in NYC bars... another reason why NYC rocks!!!!
