Too cool

That cinches it -- my friends from college are just way too cool for me. S is a filmmaker in NYC and gets to cut loose to the Bacon Brothers. G is an amazing editor, with cool handwriting (I hadn't forgotten) who travels here and yon, speaks French fluently and travels to France frequently (probably not as much as she would like). And, the list goes on.

Me, I live in Oklahoma, in a big rambling ranch house with one cat and a husband.

Dang it. I think I'm having a mid-life crisis. Where's my convertible?

Stop the world...and do the dishes

This has been one of those crazy busy hectic frustrating pull-your-hair-out kind of weeks. And, it's only Tuesday. Things at work are getting difficult. Not the company I work for, but the new campaign and all the politics and egos that go with it are enough to make me want to run for the hills.

Still trying to tie up loose ends on the other things I had to pass off and there just isn't enough time in the day for everything I want to do and don't get to finish or sometimes even start.

So tonight, I took my time doing the dishes (the joys of having a broken dishwasher.) Seems strange but I've always sort of liked just washing the dishes, wiping counters, putting everything away. After doing that, my world just seemed more orderly.

I can handle it.

I have muscles in my...

Three weeks ago, hubby and I decided we wanted to get very serious about getting back in shape. We've been walking for a while, but the weather (too hot, too cold) or something else got in the way a lot. So we joined the downtown YMCA because it's on the way home since we carpool to work together (a few blocks apart). No excuses. Our bags are in the car, so we exercise. It seems to be working.

But I've noticed our conversations are getting weirder and weirder:
"My ass hurts, and it's not from sitting all day..."
"I know what you mean, geez, I'd forgotten that was a muscle."

"How many crunches did you do today?"
"Do potato chips count?"

"Can you manually log in your cv?
"Yes, and don't forgot to log the mph and your intensity."

"Y?"
"Y-not?"

And so it goes...we're learning more than we ever wanted to know about muscles we've forgotten we had or haven't used in years. It feels good.

I didn't make my goal of running the Memorial Marathon this year, but it's still a goal for next year and next weekend, hubby and I are participating in the Marathon weekend. We're doing the 5 K 'Fun' Walk.

That must be why they call it the blues...

Blogger pal, 'Lil Red, is in a funk his week and she posed the following questions, which I'll answer because everything that I've thought about this week that would make a good post has just left me in the wee hours of this day:

1 - What's your fave tear-jerker flick of all time?
While, I don't mind crying at movies, I don't like sad movies. So the movies that make me cry that I like are: Sleepless in Seattle, Fever Pitch (reliving a great baseball moment always makes me misty,) You've Got Mail, Never been kissed, etc. etc.

I'm a sucker for a love story with a happy ending, and I LOVE Tom Hanks and Drew Barrymore, though not necessarily together. They both make great romantic comedies.

2 - Have you ever been on an anti-depressant?

Does coffee count? No, but I did take St. John's Wort once when I was in a funk, and it helped.

3 - What do you do to relieve the periodic blues?

I used to have a ritual (when we had a turntable, somehow this doesn't work well with c.d.'s). I would drag out all these old albums (yes, we still have tons) and play ones that had significance, drink a beer, and cry. Country music especially is very good when you feel like crying...my dog died...my love left...etc. etc. That usually made me feel better. Now, I watch a funny movie, or exercise. And sometimes blogging helps.

Outstanding

I'm a little slow on this, but kudos to the Oklahoma City Lightning (women's professional football team) for their resounding win in their opening game this weekend.

Cat Osterman -- undoubtedly the BEST pitcher in the world. She led her Texas Longhorn team to two wins over the Oklahoma Sooners -- one a no-hitter. But that should come as no surprise. Osterman pitched 15 no-hitters last season. Don't see anyone knocking on her door offering her multi-million dollar contracts. Injustice.

E-mail me

I just finished setting up the email account for the podcast show a friend and I are going to start this week. I've lost track. I think that's 10 email accounts.

1. Home - my personal one that I've had for years (yahoo)
2. Home - share with hubby (yahoo) (he never checks it,has an SBC one at home in his name so I check that one daily.)
3. Freelance biz one - SBC
4. Home/Work - SBC -- I'm trying to close this one down
5. Work 1 - main one for company
6. Work 2 - one I use for client #1 (client's company network)
7. Work 3 - one I use for client #3 (client's company network)
8. The Pink Zone -- podcast one just set up on SBC (more to come about this soon)

So I was wrong. I only have eight emails to check every day. This is excessive. It's almost as bad with telephone numbers (two at home, cell phone, work phone at two different offices -- see email 6 and 7 above.)

How many email accounts do you have?

Willie, the past week etc.

Busy week. Too busy or too lazy to blog.

First things first:
Willie - The concert was good, not the old Willie or maybe the problem was that it was the "old" Willie. Had loads of fun. Didn't drink near as much as we planned. The whole weekend was great.

Baseball -- Yeah! Baseball's back. Love it. Love it. Love it. Went to the Redhawks' season opener Thursday night. They won in the 13th inning. Welcome back boys.

Work -- new gig with my same employer, which means I don't get to work from home every day anymore. Not so crazy about the new client. Hard to explain without revealing too much and getting myself in trouble. It's just different.

Home -- bought a new mattress last week to replace one that we should have taken back to the store right after we slept on it the first night. We've been stiff, sore and hating it for six years. The new mattress set was supposed to be delivered this week. Bad news, now we won't get it until next week. I plan to stay in bed for at least 12 hours when we get do finally get it. Hopefully our expectations aren't too high. We bought a fairly expensive one, so we're hoping that translates to good sleep.

Faith -- Does anyone else feel that their faith was shaken a little bit this week with the news stories about Jesus, the Book of Judas, etc? I'm still trying to process.
